Puller puller!

This song is SICK!!! The beginning makes me want to dance. The rest might not be easy on the ears for most, but I think he is brilliant, so I shall post it, dammit. Check out the lyrics:

Bat chain
Puller
Bat chain puller
Puller, puller

A chain with yellow lights
That glistens like oil beads
On its slick smooth trunk
That trails behind on tracks, and thumps
A wing hangs limp and retreats

Bat chain puller
Puller puller

Bulbs shoot from its snoot
And vanish into darkness
It whistles like a root snatched from dry earth
Sodbustin’ rakes with grey dust claws
Announces its coming in the morning
This train with grey tubes
That houses people’s very thoughts and belongings.

Bat chain puller
Puller puller

This train with grey tubes that houses people’s thoughts,
Their very remains and belongings.
A grey cloth patch
Caught with four threads
In the hollow wind of its stacks
Ripples felt fades and grey sparks clacks,
Lunging the cushioned thickets.
Pumpkins span the hills
With orange crayola patches.
Green inflated trees
Balloon up into marshmallow soot
That walks away in forty circles,
Caught in grey blisters
With twinkling lights and green sashes
Uuh
Pulled by rubber dolphins with gold yawning mouths
That blister and break in agony
In souls of rust
They kill gold sawdust into dust.

Bat chain puller,
Puller puller

Feedback activist

A little gem and insight into an early Patti Smith performance. She seems so free, and she always shouts out her ideals. Seeing her live blew me away, so powerful and inspiring. I'm so excited I just booked tickets to see her for the second time here in London in March. If you haven't yet seen her, check out the tour dates and book here.

Royal Trux

Some of my favourite Royal Trux songs, couldn't find all of them, and most of the live videos I found have pretty crap sound quality...
They and their experimental cross pure rocknroll music are a source of inspiration for a lot of bands, one obvious one would be The Kills. Royal Trux was started by Jennifer Herrema and Neil Hagerty in 1987, and then split in 2001. Neil Hagerty now plays with The Howling Hex, and Jennifer Herrema with RTX.

Leadbelly

oooh he's just brilliant. I love the video recordings of him, the colours are amazing. You will probably recognize "Where did you sleep last night", as Nirvana covered it at the Unplugged in NYC thing, and I love their version of it as well, Kurt's voice sounds amazing. "Fuck you all, this is the last song of the evening":

Original VS cover VS cover

A very dark song, and somehow becomes less violent and victimized in the covers...or not? Which version do you prefer?

One of the most increadible places

I stumbled upon the first image above on the web the other day, and it brought back some lovely memories from a few years back. We did this fantastic shoot in the middle of red rock country, Utah, and I remember that between sun and snow I climbed trees, sat on a horse bare back, jumped around on huge red rocks wearing capes and warrior paint and spent hours trying to brush out those braids at 4 in the morning. It took me 28 hours and 4 flights to get there, but it was so worth it, I had never seen a landscape like it, and there was a real sense of mysticism in the air. I want to go back, I also want to be where that couple wearing the poncho are, I love that picture. Please listen to the music below, its the amazing Sun City Girls:

Motor!!!

I fucking love this song, it makes me laugh a lot, because my man has two motorbikes and is completely obsessed, goes on trackdays and can tell by the sound of the motor what kind of bike is driving by without seeing it... I don't feel the same way as Polly sings about in this song though, I do just think the song rocks! Speaking of M-bikes, I recently discovered Gnarlitude Jen's other blog, Sex Savages on Wheels: motorbike heaven.
And now some hot hot men on nice old bikes:
