Went to see Florence and the Machine yesterday, my man is a bit of a fan. I have not been sure whether I like the music, and haven't been able to put my finger on why I might not like it... I definitely think she is a very talented girl, shes got some amazing lungs, good pop songs and great, dark lyrics on her. And she got the crowd going yesterday, as can be seen in video below. I think my favorite part was her acoustic moment, as she sang Hurricane Drunk and I'm not calling you a liar. But there were some moments that almost felt a bit like that scene from Spinal Tap, where they are performing Stonehenge, it all went a bit celtic overindulgent, and I think her voice is fantastic, but in some of the more celticy songs the overindulgence is no good, she also oversang The girl with one eye, which is actually a good song, in my opinion...although I quite liked the very end of the Stonehenge moment, when there was a huge wall of sound blasted out and she went scarily goth and made the audience scream. It will be interesting to see whether she will take the world by storm like she has the UK, I think she deserves it, but just wish they would go a bit easier on the oversinging, we all know she can sing.. All in all, a fun concert, good moments, bad moments, but I do recommend you see her live if you like her music.
